From file to frame: how a giclée print is made

Twelve pigment inks, 310gsm cotton rag and a final check by hand. We followed one order through production.

Every Salon artwork is made to order. That means no warehouses full of stock — and a lot of care in the few days between your click and your doorstep.

It starts with the file

Artists upload a high-resolution file, which our team checks for size, sharpness and colour profile before it can be published. Each format and size is previewed so the artist can approve the final result.

Every proof is checked under calibrated daylight before production.

Prints are made with twelve archival pigment inks on 310gsm cotton-rag paper, rated to last more than a hundred years without fading.

We would rather reprint ten times than send one piece we are not proud of.

Framed pieces are wrapped in recycled corner protectors and shipped in double-wall boxes; unframed prints travel flat between rigid boards. Then the studio ships it — tracked, and usually within three days.
